Fogleman
Scores Top Five
April 22, 2008
Jay Fogleman scored a fifth-place finish and picked up the Greased
Lightning Clean Team award April 19 in the rain-shortened USAR
Hooters Pro Cup Northern Division Miller Lite 250 at Virginia's
South Boston Speedway.
It was the 74th top-five finish of his Pro Cup career. But even
after such a strong run, the driver of the Speedco/The Works/Jfco
Mtsp. Ford Fusion was disappointed.
"We would have won the race," the Durham, N.C.,
short-track veteran said. "We had the dominant car."
The "Short Track Shark" is back in familiar waters. He was
second-fastest in Friday's practice and qualified fourth for the
race. When Mother Nature finally forced an end to efforts to dry the
track on lap 161, Fogleman was the first car in the running order
that had completed stops for both fuel and tires. That would have
put him in the lead once other competitors pit.
"I'm glad we ran well for Speedco and The Works, and that we
represented the Clean Team well tonight," Fogleman said.
"The crew did an awesome job. I should be happy with a top
five, but this was our race tonight."
Crew Chief Darin Odle said, "We had a good car. Jay and the
guys worked real hard on the car, they did a good job. It's just a
little frustrating, because Jay was on fire out there. If you have a
tenth-place car and finish fifth because of the rain you can call it
a success, but when you have the car to beat, do everything right,
and finish fifth because of the rain it's hard to take."
