Fogleman
Finishes Third at Motor Mile
July 12, 2008
Jay Fogleman drove his Speedco/The Works/Mac Tools/JFco Motorsports
Ford Fusion No. 4n to an impressive third-place finish July 12 at
Virginia's Motor Mile Speedway in the Kmart 250 presented by Toyota
USAR Hooters Pro Cup Sears Auto Center Northern Division race.
"I think I had a better car than I finished," said the
veteran short-track racer from Durham, N.C.
Fogleman led 98 laps of the event, won The Works Clean Team Award
and the Lucas Oil Halfway Leader Award. He proved he had a
good car early in the day by qualifying 10th, and by lap 97 wrestled
the lead away from the field.
"Sometimes
race circumstance and luck don't let you finish as good as the car's
capable of finishing," Fogleman said. "I had to pit for
tires with about 60 laps to go, and by the time I worked my way
through traffic and got up to third Benny (Gordon) and Mark
(McFarland) were just too far out in front. I wish I had a caution
with 10 to go, because I think I had a car good enough to challenge
for the win."
Despite not winning, Fogleman, who's now seventh in Northern
Division points, was happy with his third-place finish and felt good
about the remainder of the year.
"Darin (Odle, crew chief) and the crew are working hard, and it
shows," Fogleman observed. "We have a good baseline down
with these cars and it's all coming together at the right time of
year."
